Life Drawing 30_09_10

What a fantastic evening for head worms! 2 Extraordinary events, one never before captured on paper. We have a revelatory sighting of a rare spiral head worm, and a world first glimpse of a leatherback marine head worm returning to the sea from its spawning grounds.

Extremely rare spiral headworm

To top off an already landmark evening, we also see the return of spaghetti tendroligy. Noodley appendages once again point to the heavens in memory of his noodley goodness. Full spaghetti radiology still appears to be a distant hope, but in these rapidly changing times who can tell whether the durum wheat radio waves will remain silent. Again, good volume of images tonight, lots of 5 min poses. Read on for a collection of very silly pictures…

Giant Dave-Cat attacks light aircraft over Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Monty Python fans report disturbance in the force as dim memory of ‘Killer Cars‘ forms in squeegied third eye. Vague Memories of Monster Atomic Cats swirl and billow, dissipating through a meat grinder into the Venus de Milo dancing a jig to squeaky wartime jazz… read on.

2 Large Cat-like Creatures seen Near Clifton Suspension Bridge

It appears there must be a breeding pair located somewhere between Somerset and Mid-Wales, possibly at the Hereford Border. Initial reports confirm one large adult and one kitten, apparently hunting cars on the Avon Portway…

Residents were in a state of confusion. Mr T. Bumberclutz, Clifton said “I was out oiling my gerbils when I looked back towards the wife Marjorie and saw these two Gert Stonkers, I almost dropped my Marsupial grease…” Fascinating.

AAAaaaaarrggghh!

Heh heh heh, I used to love photoshopping my head on to all sorts of things for shits and giggles… particularly cats – hours of fun! I have loads of these things kicking around from back in the day when I was learning photoshop. I’ll post more up as time goes on.

Beermat Challenge New Animation Prep Sketch

I just thought I’d post up this image as this cheeky little big cat character I sketched made me chuckle. It will form the key frames for a new ‘bad’ animation in EvansFinch’s Beermat Challenges

Beermat Challenge Lion Artwork

Can’t wait to actually get back to some animation again. The Beermat Challenges provide an excellent platform to create some nice funny little vignettes aimed at the student population, and a chance for me to flex my Flash animation muscles.

Squidgy Blobs – a heads up

I’ve been posting a few images up to twitpic over the last few weeks for my own personal amusement, I wanted to share those here for posterity as some of them are quite chuckle worthy…! click here to check them out: http://twitpic.com/photos/dmcropley

Innovation for Entrepreneurs

I tend to draw these things in response to conversations I have online, or just for fun! I’ve always loved the little doodles that people sometimes make when they’re on the phone, in slack periods during meetings or just for the shear hell of it… read on for more

2 Head worms and a full body worm! That’s a good haul for a Thursday evening. What better way to wind down after a long hard day at the digital coalface than drawing poor unsuspecting life models mashed up in a Dave’s eye view.

A small psychic head worm

Lots of 5 minute poses this session so the volume is quite large this week. I’m going to keep posting up every single drawing, good bad or/and ugly for the time being, so read on for more sillyness…

Video Projection Mapping

Simply…Wow! I came across this a little while ago and it blew me away. Check out the videos I’ve posted, they show buildings in famous cities appearing to morph, fade, twist and explode, synched beat for beat to a music track. The effect is phenomenal, I love how the building pulsates at 4:19 (watch fullscreen in HD if poss):

The effect is created by using high powered projecters and specialist VJ software projecting pre-rendered 3D images onto the sides of buidlings. As I understand it a 3D map is created of the building and then a visual effects piece built using the building mapping information as a base. This is then accurately re-mapped and projected giving an unsettling photorealistic effect. Read on for more videos…

Yay Life Drawing! :D Finally…

Ok, so this is the reason why I started this blog in the first place… as a way to get my life drawings, which usually stay unseen and unloved in my massive sketchbook pile out in to giddy heights of public space! Its late, and I’ve decided to just post all of the drawings that came out of tonights session at Bristol Grammar School courtesy of Will’s (now huge…) life class! So without further ado, welcome to the wibbly world of Dave Cropley…

If you asked me, I couldn't tell you why!

I should perhaps mention at this point that I’ve been doing this for about 15 years now, so I just draw what the hell I feel like! Also, to any of the life models who ever see my art – I’m sorry! I have a propensity to bring out the worst in whoever I draw, I don’t know why I do it, its just my ‘thing’. There’s many more, so read on… (don’t forget to click the images to see full size versions)

Rage Infected Monkey Eye

I’ve been painting. Which is good. I’m also finally starting Life Drawing again tomorrow, which is the main reason I’ve been wanting to start a Blog for so long so I can get my stuff online and seen. *Heart* Life Drawing. More about the that to follow, today we have paint.

Rage Infected Monkey Eye

I’ve got one of those crazy burst blood vessels in my left eye at the moment which is frankly a bit embarrassing. Its called a subconjunctival haemorrhage but looks more like a rage infected monkey eye from 28weeks later. This is how I feel about it, in paint. Will photo in good light when its properly dry. Painted on white box canvas roughly 8″x 8″
