“Draw my favourite car daddy, draw it so it pops off the page”. Obediently draws car… “Well its nice daddy, but it doesn’t pop off the page does it?!
So I googled some proper optical illusions to copy and drew them with the boy
So ends another all too brief (half a…) term
Not sure if I’m going to make it to next to term. I’m too deep in to speaker building and a DJ world at the moment so drawing might have to stay on the back burner for a bit :/
Who knows though. Can’t plan much at the moment in this wibbly wobbly world xx
In your face, lines
All about the watercolours, innit.
Its been a year and half since the last time I went to Life Class.
Just like riding a bike. Bottom right is my fave.
Doodling. Takes a new pen to rekindle the feeling of drawing for drawings sake.
There is method to the madness, probably. There’s a bird fish thing and a lizard claw thing. Keep the layout balanced, make psychedelic madness. WIP.
Did some ugly fish. This pen draws ugly fish. Aiming to paint it with watercolors. Why wouldn’t I?
Millicent the magnificent manta ray.
Robbie The Rock Lobster. Didn’t work. Stopped.
Roughs for an underwater scene. I’ve stretched some paper. I’ll doodle some madness. Then I’ll colour it in. Barry whale having a party with his mates. For my daughter. You massive crazy.
Its most satisfying building a thing, colouring it in, and knowing it looks right, because its built right.
Took bloody ages to get everything in the right order. Love it. Revelling in massive nerdery.
Finished blocking out the line drawing. Phew.
Still lots to do. Get the z order sorted and block out as white to do that. Then start colouring.
Also had a bit of an epiphany with how to test the painting on canvas technique with acrylics. More to follow.
Just the wiring and tweaking left to do
Good to go on transferring to an A1 canvas after this. Will make a nice change to start doing the physical bits while I get it flat coloured in Illustrator.
Then gradients and lighting FX. In Photoshop. Maybe.
Good progress on this thing. Managed to finish drawing up one deck… which means I’ve basically finished two decks. Bonus.
I’ve been driving myself half crazy trying to deconstruct the tone arm assembly. Building it flat and layered in a way that will allow me to easily fill the vector paths to make it look solid. Its a proper head mess.
I’m starting to learn a few bits and bobs about Illustrator now. At least it should be fairly easy to draw up the mixer. There’s still some work to do to close off the paths etc on the decks, but milestone, reached.
No more life drawing a for a while now so I gotta get my kicks elsewhere.
Making slow progress on my decks paint by numbers. Technical drawings are just not really that much fun when you’re learning software you don’t really got on with in the process… :D
Going to have another bash at the other big painting I started a few years ago but never finished, when I can muster the juices.
