Dave Cat Pic No.7 Cheddar Gorge

Cheddar Gorge is a lovely place in the Mendips, full of caves, culture and fine cheese – but I’m buggered if I’m ever going there again after seeing this brute! They’re coming for us all… this is no monkey future, this is kitty reality!

Animation Classic No.3 – ‘Rejected’ by Don Hertzfeldt

I saw this at one of the animated encounters film festivals at the Watershed in Bristol quite a few years ago now; it was one of those rare moments where a chink of sunlight breaks through an otherwise grey day. I almost pissed myself laughing (PMSL for you nerds out there) when this gem came on:

Surreal, check. Cartoon violence, check. Funny as hell, check. Proper old-school 2D animation, check. What more could you want! This film had a massive influence on me and was possibly the main driver for creating my film ‘Mouks‘. I see this film as very much an animators film, for animators… which is probably why I like it so much! But still, it gets me every time… thanks Don *tips hat

My spoon is tooo big…

It rubbed off in my animation work as I loved drawing cats and enjoyed exploring the way they think and move (I got my first job at Aproductions essentially on the strength of a feline character animation test…). I had lots of fun taking silly photos of myself with a digi-cam and photoshopping my head on to images of cats – this is the result!

Innovation for Entrepreneurs

I tend to draw these things in response to conversations I have online, or just for fun! I’ve always loved the little doodles that people sometimes make when they’re on the phone, in slack periods during meetings or just for the shear hell of it… read on for more
