I’ve been doing a couple of little digital things in my spare time recently (spare time – pah!), so I thought I’d post them up here.
A friend at work needed an illustration to finish the invite (and website) he’d designed so I agreed to help.
I don’t do this stuff professionally any more but I dig the process, so this is how it goes:

The prints I made as wedding gifts a few months ago turned out not only to be a run-away success but have also led to my first commission, which is fantastic news all round. I received a really lovely letter asking for a companion piece to one of the prints which also included what I believe to be an absolutely spot on write up of myself and my work:
“The draftsmanship is striking but there are elements of grotesquerie and darkness which seem at odds with the light heartedness he projects on an initial meeting. I’m neither critic nor connoisseur, but his images are haunting and have stayed with me”
Martin Maurice, Manhatten, NYC.
Below is the piece which provoked this response, seen here as it was presented.

I’m very much looking forward to finding the right print to complement this image, but because of the nature of my work, I never know what’s going to come off the point of my etching tool so I can but wait until the right image happens…

7 Ace people will be getting original DMCropley prints as a big thank you for helping out with our wedding at the weekend. Here’s some photos of the Fine Art Christmas present wrapping at Spike Print tonight… :D Each one is an un-editioned artists proof so they’re properly unique, lets hope they go down well…
